ARTS COUNCIL FALL WORKSHOP:

Mosaic Wall Hangings for Beginners
Mon., Nov. 9th, Tues., Nov. 10th and Wed., Nov. 11th
1pm – 4pm Daily
Wright Gallery 116 E. 3rd,

Have you always marveled at mosaic art,
with the myriad of carefully placed tiles and glass?

“Mosaic Wall Hangings For Beginners” with Wendy Nelson, is an Arts Council for  Chautauqua County Fall Workshop, and will be presented on Monday, November 9 through Wednesday, November 11, 2009. The three-day Workshop will be conducted each day from 1 PM until 4 PM at the Wright Gallery – 116 East Third Street in Jamestown. You can call (716) 664-2465 for more information or visit the Arts Concil website at  www.artscouncil.com .

The Mosaic Workshop will have a relaxed type of atmosphere, the tiles will not be any smaller than 1/2 inch, and all ages are encouraged to register. Attendees can work at their own pace – and a design will be provided for them. One-on-one assistance will be available.

Each attendee’s mosaic wall hanging is designed to be completed by the end of the November 11, 2009 class. If the student wishes to go at a slower pace and finish on their own, they can choose to do that as well. The three-day workshop will show the procedures and provide all of the supplies that are needed. An information sheet with reminders of the steps and helpful tips will be provided to take home. The mosaic will include affixing glass tiles and such items as grouting, finishing off the back of the mosaic and affixing hardware for wall hangings.

The price of the Mosaic Workshop is $50, plus supplies. Supplies are $65 for stained glass tiles, tile nippers, glue, 10”x10”x1/2” board, Latex gloves, felt, pencil, ruler, note paper, plastic work mat, gallon size Ziplocs, safety glasses, grout and an instruction sheet. Registration is preferred as soon as possible to order supplies; no later than Nov. 4th, 2009. Registration form and payment procedure is available at The Arts Council or Wendy’s web site form: click here. Minimum participation is 6 participants, to hold workshop. Be sure to ask a friend if they want to register as well!
